TO THE ATTENTION OF PROVINCIAL HOUSING AUTHORITIES, HOUSING WORKERS AND HOUSING COMPANIES in ONTARIO.
I was told by Service Canada OAS that housing was a provincial matter. I have been applying for housing since 2013 when I lived in Fort Erie in Ontario (Casa El Norte staff of 2013, not the new workers, and other agencies in that area who existed in 2013, can provide the details why and how I lived in Fort Erie). When I moved to Hamilton from Niagara Region in 2017, I applied to ATH in Hamilton and provided them the reference to my previous application in Niagara Region to maintain my place in waiting line. When I moved out of Hamilton in 2022 due to illegal take over/occupation of my apartment at Fennell Ave East, I informed them about it through OW social assistance/ODSP and other means such as public Shelter program etc. I was housed in Ottawa in 2023 by Ottawa mission housing workers. After living for two years in the same housing, when I was in search of housing, one agency gave me the information that they tell to first time applicants or new comers about wait time for housing. Since housing was a provincial matter my wait time (for housing) since 2013 should be counted, because my need for housing has been well documented and refreshed at different times in different areas of the same province.
