What is the difference between shelter money and rent (alternatively is shelter money same as rent). I recently received a message from Peel region human services that since I am in a shelter I did NOT get the shelter money. But when I rent a place of my own, rent will be shown as shelter cost (in other municipalities rent was shown as amount for shelter) on the OW stub, because of which my rental place was and perhaps will be considered a (private instead of public) shelter. Why is that so. I would appreciate if Peel region Govt. or Provincial Govt. explains this to me. Others might benefit from it as well.
