Attn: Metrolinx, CIBC and Presto customer Service and other relevant authorities – is this normal – How reliable is loading the Presto card on internet (browser or app).

I have been a user of Presto since 2013. Few times I used internet to load money on Presto. Yesterday on January 31 of 2020 at a balance of CAD $2.04 on my presto I used app on my phone to load my black Presto card (not the green presto card). Money came out of my bank account and bank assigned a number #003112806435 to this transaction./

/Few hours later after loading presto card I used HSR transit and tapped my presto card on presto machine in the bus but money was not loaded on Presto because the display on machine showed a negative number (0.46)/

/I visited HSR office in Down Town Hamilton, I called Presto (incident report # INC 7627735) to find out about it. I Called bank on Saturday morning February 01 of 2020 and I was told by the bank that Presto computer did not complete the transaction to receive the money,I wonder why. Is this normal.Moreover bank told me that it will take many business days before I get my money back either on Presto or in my Bank account. I find this very disturbing to block money for no reason.Presto system is not new and it should work without such errors/glitches.I have a feeling people who donot like technology are trying to sabotage it by manual intervention and discouraging people from using it by creating unpleasant situations.If Presto is causing headaches to customers they should compensate for it. Or replace presto with phone payment system.

  1. Comment on my own information dated February 03 of 2020.
    Called Presto around 07h30, automated system stated a negative balance and a pending load of CAD $20.00 –
    $20.00 will be applied next time I used my card to pay fare. This is unusual because I already used my card on HSR after loading on Friday January 31.
    Big question – why system did not see pending load on Friday January 31.
    Presto may behave differently to apply loaded amount of money for GO transit trips and local municipal transit such as HSR.

  2. Comment on my own information on February 13 of 2020. I received a letter from CIBC and I called them back on this issue telling them that I did not file a dispute with the bank because I made the transaction to load $20.00 on Presto Card. For few days money was out of my account but not on presto, why it took so long to complete the transaction., unusual. But no dispute. Dispute would be an unauthorised transaction.
